The 2025 Ryder Cup is rapidly approaching, with Team Europe aiming to upset the US Team on American soil.
Europe won their first away Ryder Cup back in 1987, inspired by iconic Spanish duo Seve Ballesteros and Jose Maria Olazabal.
Luke Donald has called upon another Spaniard, Jon Rahm, for similar magic at Bethpage Black, host of the next Ryder Cup.
Rahm has retained his place for the European team, who have made just one change from their triumph in 2023.
Naming the least-changed Ryder Cup side in history, Donald has only made one alteration, replacing Nicolai Hojgaard with his brother Rasmus.
What happened when America recorded the largest ever Ryder Cup victory
Team Europe beat America for the first time in 1985, with the visitors now looking for the same outcome in New York.
And one scenario they will be desperate to avoid is another heavy defeat, having suffered that fate at the 1967 Ryder Cup when they played as Great Britain.

Captain Ben Hogan led the Americans at Champions Golf Club back then, going head-to-head with away skipper Dai Rees.
Speaking at a team dinner on the eve of the event, Hogan showed fantastic foresight with his team introduction, saying: “Ladies and gentlemen, the U.S. Ryder Cup Team – the finest golfers in the world.”
His players definitely lived up to those words, securing a 23½-8½ win over their rivals to claim the largest victory margin in the history of the Ryder Cup.
How did America thrash Great Britain at the 1967 Ryder Cup?
The home side stormed to a 5½-2½ lead over the visitors after Friday’s action back in October 1967 in Texas.
And that was quickly extended to a huge 13-3 lead after Saturday’s play, which included a 4-0 whitewash in the morning four-ball.
The USA then continued their dominance in Sunday’s singles, finishing the week with a huge 15-point victory.
Arnold Palmer and Gardner Dickinson led the way for the victors with five points each, closely followed by the four-and-a-half of Bobby Nichols and Billy Casper.
But it was truly a team performance from America, who blew away their visitors from start to finish in Houston.
Fast forward to 2021, and Whistling Straits played host to a similarly dominant home performance, where the home favorites triumphed 19-9.
American captain Keegan Bradley can only dream of a repeat of that scoreline this time around, where his side can at least expect a major advantage over their opponents concerning crowd support.
It is certain to be a very hostile atmosphere for Donald and his players, who have already put a target on their backs with their impressive victory in Rome.
